AUSTRALIAN MEN S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP Completed Qualifying Round Scores Reigning Australian Stroke Play champion Cameron Smith (Qld) claimed Medallist honours following the qualifying rounds of the Australian Men’sAmateur Championship in Melbourne. Smith finished with rounds of 73 and 68 to finish qualifying at 3-under, one clear of Woodlands member Nathan Holman, Oliver Goss (WA) and Matthew Wittenberg (NSW) at 2-under par. Tom Bond (SA) finished tied 5th with the best of the internationals, New Zealander Vaughan McCall, at 1-under par. Overnight joint leader Ben Hollis (SA) finished in seventh place with Ben Clementson (NSW) and Rory Bourke (Vic) at even par. A total of 12 players fought out a lengthy play-off for 7 places in the Match Play section. The first elimination Match Play round takes place on Thursday. AUSTRALIAN WOMEN S AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIP Completed Qualifying Round Scores Victorian Breanna Elliott took out the Medallist honours following rounds of 73,72 to be at 1-under par at the Australian Women’s Amateur Championship in Melbourne. Elliott finished two strokes ahead of World Number 1 amateur Lydia Ko (NZ) who finished with rounds of 76 and 71. Adriana Brent (NSW) and World Number 3 amateur Cecilia Cho (NZ) are tied with Japan s Rio Watanabe in third place at 3-over par. National Squad members Ashlee Dewhurst (Tas) and Minjee Lee (WA) finished tied in sixth place at 4-over par. The first elimination Match Play round takes place on Thursday.
