Australian Juniors: Round 2 Reports

Australian Girls’ Amateur, Round 2

Victorian and National Junior Squad member Su Hyun Oh made her move on Thursday to take a three stroke lead into the final round of the of the Australian Girls’ Amateur Championship at Carbrook Golf Club, south of Brisbane.

Oh shot a bogey-free second round 5-under par 67 to lead past champion Annie Choi (KOR) by three after Choi’s second round 70.

Western Australia’s Hayley Bettencourt is in third place at even par after consecutive rounds of 72.

Overnight leader Cathleen Santoso (NSW) slipped to a four over par 76 to be tied in fourth place with WA’s Hannah Green.

Four players are tied for sixth including Nadine White (NSW), Shelly Shin (NSW), Keh Wen Yung (NZ) and Queenslander Emily McLennan.

Kiwi Julianne Alvarez still leads the international contingent in a tie for tenth.

The final 36 holes will be played on Friday morning.

Australian Boys’ Amateur, Round 2

Kiwi Tyler Hodge fired a second consecutive sub-70 round to take a commanding five stroke lead into the final round of the Australian Boys’ Amateur at Bribie Island Golf Club.

Hodge’s rounds of 69-68 sees him at 7 under par, leading Queensland’s Viraat Badhwar by five after the overnight leader slipped to a 74 in his second round.

National Junior Squad member Ricky Kato is tied with fellow New South Welshman Mitchell Venables in third at 1-under par.

Victorian Ryan Ruffels is in outright fifth place at even par.

New Zealand’s Compton Pikari is in sixth place, two shots behind Ruffels at 2-over par. A further six players are tied in seventh place at 3-over par.

The final 36 holes will be played on Friday morning.
