Bonhomme wins in Queensland

Andrew Bonhomme has fired a final round of 66 to take out the 2007 Greater Building Society Queensland PGA Championships at Emerald Lakes Golf Club. Bonhomme shot rounds of 66, 66, 63 and 66 to finish two shots clear of Victorian Michael Curtain and New South Welshman Darren Beck. The victory couldn&apost have come at a better time for Bonhomme who has stage two qualifying for the PGA Tour to look forward to when he heads back to Houston. Bonhomme has now guaranteed himself starts at both the Australian PGA Championship and the Australian Open when he returns from what he hopes will be the final stage of qualifying for the PGA Tour. The Queenslander started the final round two shots behind Beck, and at one stage early on in his round was five shots behind after back to back bogeys, but he managed to regroup and after a string of birdies found himself level with Beck going into the last hole. Beck blew his chance of winning when we he three putted from 30 feet, while Bonhomme&aposs excellent approach shot had left him with an easy three foot birdie put. Curtain, the other big mover on the final day, shot an impressive round of 67, which saw him tie for second place. “This is a great course for optimism and I have to thank my fianc e for her role this week.” said Curtain. The final event of the season sees the Von Nida Tour move to the Hunter Valley in New South Wales.
