Cawthorne & Curtis win Junior Country Championships

Country Champions Billy Cawthorne & Acacia Curtis Billy Cawthorne from the Echunga Golf Club has won the Golf SA Country Junior Boys Championship. Played at the Port Lincoln Golf Club on the Eyre Peninsula on Sat 21 & Sun 22 Sep, Cawthorne claimed the 54 hole Championship with a total score of 228 (76, 80 ,72). Peter Johns from Barmera Golf Club finished runner up, four strokes back on 232 ahead of Joel Durnford from Wirrabara on 233. Acacia Curtis from Wirrabara GC claimed her third Girls Championship ahead of Caillin Lakin from McCracken GC. Curtis had rounds of 85, 80, 78 (243), to finish 17 strokes ahead of Lakin on 260 and Morgan Pfitzner (Renmark) 280. The Southern District team of Billy Cawthorne (Echunga), Lachlan Barker (Willunga), Ben Layton (Willunga) and Elliott Willgoose (Echunga) took out the Boys Team Event. The following players: Billy Cawthorne, Peter Johns, Joel Durnford, Jack Thompson, Ben Tucker and Lachlan Barker will represent South Australia in the Border Challenge in January in 2014 at the Horsham Golf Club in Victoria.
