Past will meet present next Monday leading up to the 2013 Australian Amateur Championship at Commonwealth Golf Club. Three of Australia s leading amateur players will play a three holes skins match in early 19th century clothing, using the hickory clubs that their previous Australian Amateur Champions used. Former Australian team members Grace Lennon (Vic), Lucas Herbert (Vic) and Cameron Smith (Qld) will be joined by Golf Australia s High Performance Director Brad James, and four players from the Golf Society of Australia to step back in time. Play will commence at 5.00 pm on Monday 14 January at Commonwealth Golf Club. Spectators are encouraged to come and join in the festivities, with all spectators invited to stay for drinks at Commonwealth Golf Club at the conclusion (dress regulations apply). Lennon, Herbert and Smith will then tee it up for the first round of the Australian Amateur Championship on Tuesday, with play commencing at 7.30 am.
