Day 1 Report – Australian Interstate Series

AUSTRALIAN MEN S INTERSTATE TEAMS MATCHES, Royal Perth GC, Rounds 1 & 2 Australian Men&aposs Interstate – Round 1 Australian Men&aposs Interstate – Round 2 Defending champions Queensland have taken the lead after the opening two rounds of the Australian Men’sInterstate Teams Matches in Western Australia. The Queenslanders defeated New South Wales 6 -1 and South Australia 4 to 2 to lead by three matches and half a contest after the opening day s play. Daniel Nisbet, Cameron Smith and Tim Hart were among the Queensland players to end the day undefeated. Home state favourites Western Australia are in second place after beating Victoria and squaring with New South Wales in the afternoon. Daniel Hoeve and Ray Chow won both matches for WA. Victoria is in third place following its win over Tasmania in the afternoon. South Australia is in fourth place while New South Wales and Tasmania are in fifth and sixth place respectively. AUSTRALIAN WOMEN S INTERSTATE TEAMS MATCHES (for the Gladys Hay Memorial Cup), The Western Australian GC, Rounds 1 & 2 Australian Women&aposs Interstate – Round 1 Australian Women&aposs Interstate – Round 2 New South Wales have a narrow opening lead after the first two rounds of the Australian Women’s Interstate Teams Matches at The Western Australian Golf Club. The New South Wales side defeated Queensland 4-1 in the morning and Western Australia in the afternoon to claim top spot. Cathleen Santoso (NSW) had good wins in both her matches. South Australia moved in second place ahead of Victoria in third after a good win over Queensland and a squared contest with Tasmania. Sarah King, Emma Ash and Megan Bleeze all went through the day undefeated for South Australia. Western Australia is in fourth place after losing to NSW in the afternoon. Tasmania is in fifth place while Queensland are in sixth place.
