Double Federal joy for Jager

Final Results AIS/Golf Australia National Squad member Matt Jager successfully defended his Federal Amateur Open Championship crown with a two-stroke victory over Queenslander Tim Hart on Monday. After a third round 66 (-6), Jager sat poised to strike going into the final day just one shot behind the leaders. Jager&aposs final round 68 (-4) took him clear of Hart in second to his second individual victory of 2009 after winning the New Zealand Amateur Championship earlier in the year. Fellow AIS/National Squad team mate Daniel Nisbet made a final round charge up the leaderboard with the best round of the day, a 6-under 66. It put Nisbet in a tie for third with Victorian Luke Bleumink who shot a 1-under par 71 to also finish at 8-under. AIS/National Squad member Brendan Smith finished in fifth place at 7-under par after being in the chasing pack overnight. National Squad member Ryan McCarthy closed with a 4-under par 68 to move to a share of sixth place at 6-under. He was joined by Patrick Wilson (NSW). Bonnie Doon member Lincoln Tighe finished in outright 8th place at 5-under par after an even par final round. Western Australia&aposs Aiden Bae finished in 9th place after a 1-over 73.
