HP Squad Training
The first training session for the members of the 2013 Golf NSW High Performance Player Development Squads took place at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club on Tuesday February 13th. The players went through a number of skill drills that covered the various facets of the game. Players also received some advice about their pre-shot and post shot routines from Golf NSW Sport Psychologist John Crampton. John also discussed with the group how to mentally prepare and debrief for each tournament round.
The group then played a 9 hole competition in which they had to role play a player/caddie relationship and the interaction between the two prior to each shot played. This lead to some funny interactions during the game, but the squad could see the benefit and many commented that how much more they were able to visualise and focus on the process of hitting a good shot as they discussed varying details of each shot with their caddy.

With a heavy influence on current form taken into account in the selection process, the performances of the players in the final few selection events will be very important for any hopefuls.”For more information on the Golf NSW State Teams [click here]
NSW is hoping to break the drought in the Boys’ Championship since a NSW boy last won the event in 1986. Peter O&aposMalley guarded the title in 1986 following previous wins by NSWs’ Brett Ogle in 1985 and Stephen Jackson in 1984. The title has eluded the boys ever since.
