Gary Easte (Spring Valley) has accomplished the difficult three peat with today’s 2016 Cranbourne Senior Amateur win. Gary fired a second round score of 73 (one over par) for a 36 hole total of 147 after his two over par 74 yesterday. The impressive display of golf resulted in himself and overnight leader Mick Streit (Huntingdale) to a sudden death playoff.
In the playoff, Gary hit a straight drive and a 6 iron from 172 metres into the Par 5 first to 12 feet. He went on to make the putt and claim his third straight Senior Amateur title.
Brian Gray (Rossdale) made the most of the ideal conditions to seize victory in the nett championship with two nett rounds of 72. Gray has been in some hot form of late and these notable rounds should move him up the Lulofs rankings.
After only just completing their club championships on Sunday, Cranbourne was presented beautifully with ideal tournament conditions. Players enjoyed two lunches including a BBQ presentation lunch conducted today. The next stop on the Bachli tour is up in the high country at the Bright Country Golf Club from 17-18 March. The event is set up to be a sensation after the club only just recently hosted the Victorian Country Championship & Junior Regions.
