Employment Opportunity for Manager, IT

An excellent role exists for an up and coming IT individual (or current assistant to an IT Manager) who is seeking to take the next step in their career as an IT Manager, to join the Golf NSW administration team. Based at Arncliffe and located close to Arncliffe and Wolli Creek train stations, as well as Sydney s International Airport terminal, Golf NSW has established a role which will be responsible for defining, implementing and managing all IT and telecommunication related matters for the organisation. The office opening hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday, although after and/or before hours work may be necessary from time to time. The position is on a full time basis and a salary arrangement will be dependent on experience and qualifications. The role will report to the General Manager Commercial (GMC), and also work closely with the CEO and management team to refine and enhance the technical resources to all internal and external stakeholders. Key responsibilities for the role are:-

  • Manage and monitor adherence to the Golf NSW Strategic and Business Plans insofar as IT is concerned;
  • In conjunction with GMC, manage all IT activities including those associated with the NSW Open/s, and their respective websites and data access requirements;
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals;
  • Administer asset management for all IT hardware, software, and equipment;
  • Manage all IT risks, policies and procedures;
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives;
  • Develop, maintain and foster a close working partnership with all stakeholders;
  • Awareness and ability to analyse the holistic IT needs of the business with an ability to demonstrate initiative with new ideas and strategies; and
  • Ability to work patiently and diligently with staff to resolve IT and technical problems.
Whilst formal qualifications are not essential, these will be well regarded when considering the applications. Other attributes which will be considered for the role include the following:-
  • An understanding of the Australian sport environment, preferably with a keen interest in golf;
  • Well developed interpersonal skills and a willingness to work as part of a small team;
  • Thorough understanding and working knowledge of major computing platforms (i.e. Microsoft) , PC operating systems and infrastructure;
  • Demonstrable application support experience;
  • Ability to conduct research into IT issues and products as required;
  • Highly self-motivated together with the ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks;
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities; and
  • Keen attention to detail;
  • Understanding and use of HTML coding;
  • Sound knowledge and demonstrated understanding of backend website operations, digital links, social media and technologies used to instigate on-line activities.
