Every Child Can Play Golf

Return to Sport Expo

The “Return to Sport Expo” is run by the Royal Rehabilitation Association in order to help all people with a disability to get into sport, or back into sport or any outdoor activity. An amazing array of sports are represented. From archery to swimming, snow skiing to table tennis, wheelchair basketball to “Murder Ball” (wheelchair rugby), you name it there was something that a disabled person could do involving any sport.

Golf was represented by the Blind Golfers with their walkers and the Amputee golfers who had two different electric carts which allowed a person to be strapped into a chair that could swivel and pivot into position in order to play a stroke. A hitting net was set up for demonstrations. It drew attention from many visitors.

JNJG's Dale and Greg set up a skills session for the school children who visited the Expo on the first day, giving them a chance to swing a club and hit a ball. Some did very well including the “wheelies” who were great at hitting a ball off the mats. Their enthusiasm was infectious and the joy in their faces was a delight to see. Great fun was had by all.
