Fowler claims lead

Veteran Peter Fowler has fired a second successive three-under par round of 69 to take the outright lead after the second round of the Victorian Open at Woodlands Golf Club. The former Australian Open winner is six-under par at the halfway stage of the tournament, one stroke ahead of New South Welshman Aaron Townsend, Western Australian Kim Felton and Victorians Marc Leishman and Scott Laycock who are all at five-under par. Runner-up in the 2006 event, Aron Price, is at four-under par with a host of other players including former Victorian State Team member Ben Bunny. American Eric Egloff recorded the round of the day, shooting an eight-under par round of 64, a stark contrast to his opening day six-over par 78. Defending champion David Diaz recovered from his five-over par opening round 77 with a three-under par round to move to two-over for the tournament. Tournament drawcard Peter Senior remains in contention for his first Victorian Open title, three shots adrift of the leaders at three-under par. Former winners Kurt Barnes and Lucas Parsons will both be missing from the weekend action after missing the cut.
