Order of merit leader Marcus Fraser has been voted the Asian Tour’s top player in February.
Fraser, of Corowa, only took up membership of the tour before the start of the Maybank Championship in Malaysia in which he duly stormed to victory.
The Australian’s gutsy, come-from-behind effort eventually saw him triumph by two shots, ending a six-year title drought.
“I’m delighted to win the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month. This is an endorsement of my achievements by my fans and I’ll strive to work even harder in this long season ahead,” the 37-year-old said.
Fraser won the award ahead of Korea’s Soomin Lee and South Africa’s Shaun Norris with the trio nominated by a selection panel.
The Malaysian win sparked a solid run of results for Fraser, including entry into the World Golf Championship event in Miami where he led through the first round.
The Peninsula-Kingswood member also finished T15 at the Perth International, then T51 at the Indian Open before this week flying to Texas to play the WGC World Match Play.
