AIS Rookie Professional Matt Griffin fell just shy of his maiden PGA Tour of Australasia victory and finished second at the WA PGA Championship at Bunbury Golf Club. Sharing the lead at various stages throughout the final round, Griffin finished two strokes behind winner David Bransdon and collected a cheque for $10,450 for his efforts. Brad Kennedy from Queensland was a further shot back in third. West Australian Stephen Dartnall and Victorian Luke Hickmott tied at 13-under in fourth. Griffin finished with rounds of 68-69-68-68 to be at 15-under-par for the championship. He said he will now move his attention to this week s JBWere Masters which will be played at his home course, The Victoria Golf Club. I played great the back nine and got myself into the front but Dave was impressive over the last three holes and there is not much you can do about that, Griffin reasoned. I hit the ball close all week and gave myself chances but missed a couple of shorter shots today which probably cost me. Overall I played well, and you cannot dwell on that. Griffin has had three top 10 finishes in his last four starts.
