Australia&aposs Matthew Griffin has claimed a one-stroke lead after the first round of the SK Telecom Open in South Korea with an eight-under 64. In delightful conditions at Pinx Golf Club on South Korea&aposs Jeju Island, Griffin produced nine birdies and a bogey to take the overnight lead ahead of local Kang Wook-soon. Starting from the 10th tee, the 29-year-old Australian posted a brilliant run of six-straight birdies on Thursday, rolling in four in a row to the halfway point of his round and then backing it up with a couple more at the first and second holes. His nine birdies in all throughout his round were only undone slightly by his only blemish at the seventh, while Wook-soon carded a bogey-free seven-under 65 to sit just below Griffin on the leaderboard. Wook-soon has a one-shot buffer over a group of nine players tied for third, including Australia&aposs Anthony Brown and Jason Norris. Brown and Norris were joined at six under by South Koreans Kang Kyung-nam, Kim Do-hoon, Jang Dong-kyu and Kim Jae-ho, plus China&aposs Hu Mu, Michael Long of New Zealand and the USA&aposs David Oh.
