Grosvenor takes lead at Mid Amateur

Perfect conditions greeted players for round two of the Australian Mid Amateur Championship at Arundel Hills Country Club on the Gold Coast.

Scores reflected the benign conditions with Queenslander Ashley Grosvenor shooting a one-under par 71 to take the lead in the men’s championship.

Ashely, a member of Keperra Country Club, had an even par front nine before an up and down back down which started with birdies on the 10th, 11th and 14th holes before two late bogeys on the 15th and 16th holes.

Ashley finished with a two round total of 146 (+2) to lead by three shots from defending champion John McMiles from NSW, who also carded a one-under par 71 today, and Mark Boulton from Victoria.

In the women’s championship, Western Australian Melissa Luk shot a four-over par 76 to lead by two shots going into tomorrow’s final round.

Melissa played steadily with round highlights including birdies on the 2nd and 13th holes.  Melissa finished with a two round total of 165 (+11).

In second place is Robyn Tait from Vietnam who shot a seven-over par 79 today. She is two shots ahead of Robyn Callaghan from Queensland who will make up the leading women’s group.

The final round is seeded draw commencing at 7.30 am tomorrow morning.
