Men's NSW Amateur Championship
The Men’s NSW Amateur Championship, incorporating the NSW Medal and the NSW Club Champion of Champions, is one of the major national amateur tournaments, and is a National and World Ranking Event. The event has a rich history dating back to 1898. The Championship is open to male amateur golfers who hold a current Australian or overseas equivalent golf club handicap that does not exceed 5.4. Club Champions from affiliatedNSW Golf Clubs are eligible to enter the Championship if their GA handicap is greater than 5.4.
The leading 32 players from the NSW Medal, who have nominated to participate in the NSW Amateur, will be eligible to compete in the NSW Amateur Match Play. Ties for 32nd place shall be decided by sudden death play-off. If insufficient time is available for a play-off, such ties will be determined by using the Golf Australia Countback System. Other ties for positions will be determined by lot. The NSW Amateur will be match played over 18-holes, with the Final being played over 36-holes. The match play draw will be a seeded draw. In the event that any match is halved at the completion of 18 holes, players shall continue to play until a player wins a hole, when the match is then considered won. The winner of the match play stage of the Championship will be the NSW Amateur Champion .
The NSW Amateur and NSW Medal Champions receive exemptions into the NSW Open Championship.
The leading 32 players from the NSW Medal , who have nominated to participate in the NSW Amateur, will be eligible to compete in the NSW Amateur Match Play. The NSW Medal is played over two courses. It is four rounds of 18-holes stroke play, played over three days – 18-holes on the first day, 18-holes on the second day, and 36-holes on the third day. The field is evenly divided between two venues for the first day’s play with players changing venues for their second round. The leading 60 players plus ties after the first 36-holes qualify for the final 36-holes on the third day. The winner of the 72 holes stroke play section of the Championship is the winner of the NSW Medal.
Champions of Champions
The Champion of Champions will be played in conjunction with the first 36-holes of the NSW Medal. To be eligible to enter a player must be a Golf NSW affiliated Golf Club Champion the previous year leading up to the NSW Amateur Championship. Players who enter the Champion of Champions must indicate this and enter their details in the appropriate section of the entry form, otherwise they will not be included in the Champion of Champions event. In the event of a tie, joint winners will be declared. In the event that all entrants are unable to complete 36 holes on the first two days due to suspension of play, the Champion of Champions will be decided on the completed scores for one round.
