Howlong celebrate MYGolf Centre of the Year award

Howlong Country Golf Club in NSW celebrated being named the 2012 MYGolf Centre of the Year with a special clinic on Sunday 3rd March. Representatives from Golf Australia including National Junior Squad Member Lucas Herbert, were present for the celebrations which saw MYGolfers hitting towards a giant inflatable target as well as partaking in their usual activities with Howlong s Community Coaches. After the clinic, a barbeque lunch hosted by Golf Australia was served for all participants, parents and coaches before Herbert spoke to the group and passed on some valuable knowledge and advice. At only 17 years of age, Herbert was able to relate well to the young golfers and promoted the message of just enjoying the game and having fun. A formal presentation of the award was then made to Club President Ken Walton as well as a cheque from Golf Australia to assist Howlong with the continued success of their program. General Manager of Howlong, Chris Rebbechi, believes most of the credit should go to the many volunteers who make the program so successful. This award would not be possible without the tireless effort of our volunteer coaches who continue to donate their time to the program Rebbechi said. With 400 MYGolf Centres running across Australia, this award is testament to the commitment not only of our volunteer coaches, but also to the families in our small community who continue to support the program. Congratulations to Howlong on their fantastic achievement!
