Ko lights up course while Wright brings right game

On a day where the sun is doing its best to break through the cloud cover, Australian LPGA regular, Lindsey Wright has used the good scoring conditions to her advantage by stringing together 6 birdies in a bogey free 2nd round to finish with a sensational 66 to take the clubhouse lead at -7. After her round, Wright was naturally delighted. “With the recent rain making the greens fairly soft it was great to be able to shoot straight at the pins. It also helps when the putter finishes the job” . “I&aposve also benefitted from being home and relaxing a little so I feel refreshed and rejuvenated” she commented. Last year&aposs runner up, Lydia Ko, has taken the course apart over her first 12 holes, racing to 10 under par for the tournament after recording 5 birdies and an eagle to be 7 under for todays round. Ko continues her brilliant form of not only last year, when 2nd to Ladies European Tour rookie of the year, Caroline Hedwall but also justifying her World No.1 Amateur ranking, after taking out the Australian Amateur title last week. Still only 14 years of age, Ko is displaying a wonderful temperament and game against some of the worlds best. Co-overnight leader Rachel Bailey, had a mixed day and couldn&apost get her putter working but still managed to card a respectable even par 72 to remain at -4. She has been joined by Marianne Skarpnord from Norway, playing in the same group, who birdied 4 holes between 4th and 8th to make the turn at 6 under but had a couple of bogeys over the inward nine. Two players from the UK, Becky Morgan and Melissa Reid are starting to make their run for the championship with both heading up the leaderboard. Morgan had a brace of birides between the 4th and 9th holes to be 4 under for the day, whilst Reid had consecutive birdies at 4, 5, 6,7, 8 and then 11 after commencing with a double bogey on the first hole. Overnight leader Karen Lunn has had an unhappy day after consecutive double bogeys on 10 and 11 has seen her drop to +1 overall and 5 over for the day. The afternoon breeze is starting to pick up, which will make conditions a little difficult with the tough pin positions. For more information and latest news & results go to:
