In-Kyung Kim became the fourth winner from Korea in as many weeks when she blew the field away with a final round of 8-under par 64 to win the Lorena Ochoa Invitational presented by Banamex and Corona Light. Perennial runner-up Suzann Pettersen took home the silver medal for the sixth time this season while France’s Karine Icher finished outright third after finishing with an eagle at the 18th to leapfrog both Cristie Kerr and Paula Creamer who tied for fourth.

rnStarting the day at 11-under and in a tie for second, Kim was just one shot off the lead, held by Pettersen. However, it was only a matter of time before some putts started to drop for Kim who hit 66 out of 72 greens in regulation for the tournament; an astonishing 91.7%. A solid start with birdies at the 1st and 3rd holes was followed by a quartet of bogeys from the 6th through the 9th holes which effectively put the result beyond doubt as she opened up a four-shot lead heading into the back nine.
rn
rnThe Rolex World No.9 added birdies at the 11th and 15th holes to continue her dominance; heading to the final two holes with a three shot cushion over Pettersen, who had bounced back from a double-bogey at the 4th hole with four birdies. A bogey at the 17th didn’t hurt Kim, who bounced back with a birdie to finish an astonishing final round to complete her third LPGA Tour victory. It was the 11th time this season that the diminutive Korean has finished in the Top-10 and she now sits 8th on the official Money List with $1,121,382 in season earnings.
rn
rnTournament host, the retired Lorena Ochoa, finished in a tie for 25th after rounds of 74, 71, 69 and 74.
rn
rnKarrie Webb had another solid tournament, finishing in a tie for 10th after rounds of 70, 69, 68 and 70 that had included only one bogey in her opening three rounds. Too many bogeys on the front nine in the final round ruined her chance of contending after beginning the final round just three shots off the pace. Meanwhile Katherine Hull posted disappointing final rounds of 75 and 73 to finish in a tie for 22nd.
