Made for Marino?

IN PROFILE: STEVE MARINO (United States) Steve Marino finished his 2008 PGA Tour season with a tie for third place at the Children&aposs Miracle Network Classic and started 2009 with much of the same consistency in his game with a tie for seventh at the Sony Open in Hawaii. Originally from Altus, Oklahoma, Marino went on to record five top ten finishes in the 2009 season, finishing with a tie for seventh place at The Tour Championship presented by Coca-Cola. Among the top ten finishes was a tie for second at the Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial Country Club, Marino&aposs best result since joining the Tour. He was beaten to the trophy in Texas by Steve Stricker who edged Marino and South African Tim Clark out in a play-off. It&aposs therefore no surprise that Marino ranked ninth in Scoring Average on the PGA Tour in 2009 and led the field in scrambling in his run to second place at Colonial. His performance in the FedEx Cup Playoffs was an extension of his strong play all season, which included sharing the 36-hole lead with Tom Watson at the British Open. In the FedEx Cup Playoffs, Marino shared the 54-hole lead with Paul Goydos at The Barclays, shared the first-round lead with Rory Sabbatini at the BMW Championship, and tied for seventh at THE TOUR Championship. If Marino tastes glory at New South Wales Golf Club, he will become the first American since Brad Faxon in 1993 to lift the Stonehaven Cup on the final day.
