With the Oates Vic Open just over two weeks away from teeing off, Golf Victoria is pleased to announce two new partnerships with well-known Geelong companies Morris Finance and Bay FM.
Both new sponsors will support the tournament at a Championship Partner level and will join new naming rights sponsor Oates and a raft of existing sponsors from the PGA Tour of Australasia and ALPG Tour event’s inaugural year at Thirteenth Beach Golf Links last year.
Morris Finance, a Finance, Leasing and Risk Management specialist with Head Office based in Geelong and a strong National footprint will add the Oates Vic Open to an already diverse portfolio of sporting sponsorships including the Geelong Football Club and V8 Supercars.
Nathan Murray, Managing Director at Morris Finance spoke about the decision of aligning its brand with the Oates Vic Open as well as the broader Victorian golf industry.
“We are extremely pleased to be supporting the 2014 Oates Vic Open as it brings together an elite field of golfers with drawcards such as the polished left handed Victorian Richard Green and the big hitting Laura Davies, not to mention the sentimental and crowd favourite in Jarrod Lyle.
“At Morris Finance we conduct business with both male and female introducers and clients alike so it was attractive finding a sporting event that hosted both sexes simultaneously and also showcased the Geelong Region and the Bellarine Peninsula in particular,” said Murray.
93.9 Bay FM and its sister station K-Rock are iconic radio stations in the Geelong region. Residents of Geelong are fiercely parochial and committed to their community – as are Geelong Broadcasters.
Always out and about in the community, Geelong’s 93.9 Bay FM and 95.5 K-ROCK are ‘live and local’.
The local stations are the heartbeat of the Geelong community and provide a connection that goes well beyond the music.
General Manager of 93.9 Bay FM, Andy Mathers cited the success of last year’s Oates Vic Open and the fact the tournament is being played in its backyard as primary reasons for attaching itself to the 2014 event that will run from Thursday 20 – Sunday 23 February.
“Personally, as a golf tragic, I am delighted to be a part of such a wonderful event and to welcome the cream of Australian golf to our region. I can’t wait to join the galleries and witness first-hand how golf should be played….I’ll be taking notes,” Mathers stated.
In addition to funding from the Victorian Government and City of Greater Geelong, returning sponsors include Rosemount Estate, Daniel Allison & Associates, Bolle/Bushnell Golf, The Grovedale Hotel, Adcell Group, Geelong City Motors, Drummond Golf and Millennium Hi-Tech Group.
