Tournament golf returns to Castle Hill CC
At the signing of the agreement Golf NSW CEO, Stuart Fraser, commented We re delighted to be bringing the NSW Open back to Sydney and to such a highly respected and picturesque layout as Castle Hill. The players will enjoy the opportunity of playing one of the state’s best courses, which I have no doubt will be a stern test for the best players, particularly under tournament conditions. The discussions we have had with Castle Hill Country Club to be able to appoint them as the host venue have been very positive, and together both parties are looking forward to a strong working relationship to ensure a successful tournament. By announcing the venue early in the year enables a significant lead time in our preparations as well as providing prospective event sponsors with over six months of association with one of Australian golf’s iconic events, says Fraser. We expect the quality of the venue, and the metropolitan location, will also be a great lure for some of Australia s best players. Castle Hill Country Club General Manager, Melissa Ellis said, Our club is extremely proud and excited to be hosting such a prestigious golf tournament. Boasting a world class par-72 championship golf course, nestled among 167 acres of open fairways and picturesque bushland with state-of-the-art clubhouse amenities, Castle Hill Country Club is a befitting location for an esteemed event. We re keen to showcase our club to a much broader audience, both national and international, which is exciting for our members, local community and the entire region. Castle Hill Country Club President, David Geraghty said, We are looking forward to some of the best golfers in Australia competing on our world-class golf course and working closely with Golf NSW to stage the most successful and memorable tournament yet. Our golf course commands some of the most spectacular holes and views guaranteeing that a challenging and memorable experience will be had by all, Geraghty added. Dates for the NSW Open are yet to be decided but expectations are for early to mid November 2013.
