Ogilvy to play Australian PGA

World No.10 Geoff Ogilvy will return to Australia in December to play the Australian PGA Championship. The 31-year-old, who is currently Australia&aposs top-ranked golfer, will join compatriots Adam Scott and Peter Lonard in a star-studded field of local golfers. Ogilvy won the 2006 US Open at Winged Foot and is hopeful of adding an Australian PGA Championship to his already impressive resume later this year. “I am looking forward to returning to Coolum and to competing in Australia&aposs oldest professional event. Hopefully I can add my name to the many great players listed on the Joe Kirkwood Cup,” Ogilvy said. “Coolum always sets up for an exciting week of golf to showcase our best players and also provides a very relaxing atmosphere for family, friends and golf supporters to visit.” Meanwhile, the PGA of Australia has announced an increase to total prizemoney at this year&aposs PGA Championship, with the total purse increased to $1,500,000. “With the prize pool now at the highest level in the tournament&aposs lengthy history, we look forward to welcoming our players home in December for what promises to be yet another record breaking year,” PGA of Australia CEO Max Garske said. The tournament will be held at the Hyatt Regency Coolum on Queensland&aposs Sunshine Coast from December 4-7.
