In a trio of beautiful spring days, Ross Percy (Cobram Barooga) has won the Coomealla Senior Amateur with rounds 73, 75, 73, for a 5 over par total of 221. The four time Doug Bachli trophy winner finished ten shots clear of his nearest competitor and Victoria’s highest ranked Senior Amateur in Australia, Alan Bullas (Commonwealth), following three rounds of 77.
Mt Gambier member John Beaumont was also a notable in the field, being one of just four players to break 80 in each round. The ever consistent Pat Giles (Goonawarra) notched out Vince Dichiera by a shot to take the honors in the Nett section.
Along with Barry Tippett and Michael Jackson, both Percy and Bullas were part of the four man team that managed to take out the Interstate Stroke Teams event a week prior at Yarra Yarra Golf Club. The next Senior event will be played at Northern Golf Club from 24th – 25th September.
