Rd 2: Ko steady as Lee surges into contention

ROUND 1 AND 2 RESULTS Western Australian Minjee Lee completed an outstanding ten stroke turnaround to post a 6-under par 67 in the second round of the Srixon Australian Women’s Stroke Play Championship at Huntingdale Golf Club. Lee, who carded a first round 4-over par 77, moved up the leaderboard to be in outright second place at 2-under par behind leader Lydia Ko (NZ) who is at 3-under. I drove well and putted pretty well, Lee said. It wasn t as windy as yesterday so I played better. I ll go out and play my own game tomorrow, she added. Ko posted an even-par 73 to go with her opening round 70. Overnight leader and World Number 1 amateur Cecilia Cho finished with a second round 4-over par 77 to slip into a share of third place with Switzerland s Fabienne In-Albon and Chinese Taipei s Yi-Chen Liu at 1-over par. Tasmania s Ashlee Dewhurst is in outright sixth place at 2-over par. Five players are in a tie for seventh place at 3-over par including South Australian pair Sarah King and Ebony Heard and Queensland s Ashley Ona. The third round begins on Friday. Entry to all championships is free.
