Research Project Participation – Golfers Wanted

At its best, sport brings people together but does thinking about sexuality change the game?

In recent years, a great deal of effort has gone into work to promote sports participation and inclusion. The ideal is that sport is a genuinely inclusive part of Australian life, open to everyone. But the reality can be rather more complicated.

Researcher Dr Gillian Fletcher is examining the issues of inclusion, participation and sexuality in sport, and needs your help.

Sportspeople from across Victoria-whether they are gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer, or heterosexual-are asked to consider participating in secure, online discussion groups and individual interviews, as part of a VicHealth-funded Innovations Grant.

What are the experiences of GLBQ people in mainstream clubs?

What are the benefits of being in a mainstream club, and are there any personal costs?

Do straight sportspeople (and GLBQ sportspeople) think that sexuality is an issue for consideration in a sporting context?

If you are interested, please contact Gillian directly for more information.
