Round 2 Recap: Fraser island

Marcus Fraser sits alone by himself on top of the leaderboard after Round 2 of The Emirates Australian Open at The Lakes. Here&aposs the recap of Day 2. Fraser shot a 69 in Round 2, the day after a hole in one on the 15th yesterday sparked his opening round – also of 69. He has a one stroke lead on John Senden and Brendan Jones entering the weekend. For the full leaderboard after Round 2 check out our Live Scores Sitting pretty… Marcus Fraser (6-under) had surged to 7-under with back to back birdies on the 6th and 7th (he started on the back nine), but he only managed a par on the Par 5 8th and then bogeyed the Par 3 9th. He had a total of 5 birdies in Round 2. Brendan Jones (5-under) shot a 71 in Round 2 but it could have been so much better. He did shoot 5 birdies but a costly double bogey on the 16th and two more bogeys on the 6th and 12th, limited his eventual impact on the leaderboard. John Senden (5-under) had a mixed day after starting 6-under after Round 1. He had an amazing 5 bogeys in his 2nd round but 4 birdies including a 4 on the Par 5 17th saw him stay within one of Fraser. Nick Cullen (4-under) was another of Round 2&aposs bolters. While he only finished 2-under, he shot 4 birdies and is a contender entering the weekend. He finished with 3 birdies an 2 bogeys. Tom Watson (2-over) rolled back the years with a stunning 4-under 68, while Geoff Ogilvy (1-over) can&apost be discounted after a strong back nine that netted three birdies. Defending champion Greg Chalmers (2-over) was disappointing, shooting 3-over including 4 bogeys. The cut has been confirmed at 4-over par, with only the Top 60 (plus ties) included on the tee times for Saturday and Sunday.
