Shin and Luck make US Junior Quarter Finals

Shelly Shin (NSW) and Curtis Luck (WA) have both progressed to the quarter finals of their respective US Junior Championships.

Luck, who was runner-up at the Australian Amateur in January, will play Will Grimmer from Ohio in tonight's quarter final at the Club at Carlton Woods at the Woodlands in Texas.

Shin, the current NSW Junior Champion, will  play Binny Lee from Texas at the Forest Highlands Club in Flagstall Arizona.

  • Born June 3, 1998, in Busan, Republic of Korea
  • Holds Australian citizenship
  • No. 82 in the Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking
  • Competing in her first U.S. Girls’ Junior
  • A member of Golf Australia’s National Squad – Junior Squad
  • Winner of the the 2014 New South Wales Junior Championship and Riversdale Cup
  • Made the cut at three professional events in 2014, including the New Zealand Women’s Open
  • At the 2014 Girls’ Junior, she defeated Ellen Takada (round of 64), Jiyoon Jang (round of 32) and Clare Amelia Legaspi (round of 16)

About Curtis Luck, 17, of Australia

·         Has won at the Western Australia Amateur Championship, the Victorian Junior Masters Championship and the NSW Stroke Play Championship in 2014.

·         Member of the Western Australia National Youth Team along with fellow U.S. Junior competitors Zach Murray and Ryan Ruffels.

·         Was Captain of the Western Australian Junior State Team in 2013 and 2014.

·         Finished runner-up at the 2014 Australian Amateur.

·         Played basketball for Western Australia at the Pan Pacific Games when he was only 12 years old.
