Smith takes lead, Mew stands firm in Queensland

2009 Queensland Boys and Girls State team representatives Cameron Smith (Wantima) and Christina Mew (Royal Queensland) hold their respective lead heading into the final day of the 2010 Queensland Boys and Girls Amateur Championship at Indooroopilly Golf Club. Cameron Smith (Wantima) carded a third round score of seven under par 65 to head into the final days play with a three shot advantage, thirteen under for the championship. Smith leads Redcliffe member Taylor MacDonald who fireda 68 (-4) to be 206 (-10) after 54 holes. First and second round leader Nicholas Smits (Colonial) carded a one under 71 to be five shots off the pace. Royal Queensland s Christina Mew is two shots in front after returning a third round score of even par 74, to be 223 (+1) for the championship. Jessica Park (Brisbane) is lingering only two shots back after a third round one under par 73.The fourth round should prove to be very close with only a few shots separating the top five players. The leading 60 players (plus ties) in the Boys Championship and 30 players (plus ties) in the Girls Championship will head into the final days play tomorrow with the 54 hole cut mark at 238 for the boys and 263 for the Girls. Players will tee off tomorrow from 6:52am for their fourth and final round of the 2010 Championship, with the lead groups teeing off at 8:30am. Click here for full scores and results
