Adelaide is a hive of golf activity this week with the inaugural Playgolf WEEK underway throughout South Australia. Piloted in South Australia and with plans to expand the concept nationally in 2014, Playgolf WEEK promotes the sport further into the community through a range of great activities designed to bring the game to new players of all ages. Following a successful launch and MYGolf Junior Golf clinics earlier in the week, the next activities include a women&aposs Sip and Swing evening tonight at the Audi Solitaire Showroom in Hawthorn, SA hosted by Kerri-Anne Kennerley, as well as an Urban Golf special event in Adelaide s CBD on Friday. More than 40 golf clubs from across South Australia be holding an Open Day on Sunday 3 November and will offer a special Playgolf WEEK incentive at their club. CEO of Golf Australia, Stephen Pitt, said Playgolf WEEK was a fantastic vehicle for individuals to discover golf as an accessible, colourful and fun past time. The vision for Playgolf WEEK is to encourage more people to play golf more often and educate Australians on the benefits of playing golf as a good way to stay active and social throughout life. Playgolf WEEK 2013 will be held as a pilot campaign in South Australia with the potential for a wider campaign next year. We are pleased to work with Golf South Australia in bringing this initiative to life in 2013 and look forward to growing the initiative in the future , said Mr Pitt. CEO of Golf South Australia, Chris Luz-Raymond, is delighted South Australia will stage the first Playgolf WEEK and hopes the initiative will encourage all South Australians to play golf in some form over the next week. “Golf is a great game; it is everyone s game from the absolute beginner to those who have been playing the game for a life-time. We have forty golf clubs across metropolitan Adelaide and country South Australia participating in Playgolf WEEK. We look forward to seeing you there. Matthew Rechner, Program Manager Active City, Adelaide City Council said: Adelaide City Council is delighted to have hosted the launch of Playgolf WEEK at the North Adelaide Golf Course. The North Adelaide Golf Course the perfect location for Playgolf WEEK as it is suitable for golfers of all ages and abilities. Those new to golf can play Supa Golf and Par 3 along the banks of the River Torrens, while the more experienced golfers are catered for on the North and South Courses, overlooking the CBD. Playgolf WEEK will be staged throughout South Australia from 28 October – 3 November 2013. A week-long competition will be open to all South Australians that visit a Playgolf WEEK club or attend a Playgolf WEEK activity, with the chance to win a weekend trip to the 2013 Emirates Australian Open in Sydney up for grabs.
