In an almost Monty Python-style swipe, Tiger Woods has taken to Twitter as if to say, “I’m not dead”.
Woods, 40, posted today a two-word retort to a social media claim of his physical demise earlier this week with a video attached.
“Progressing nicely” was all the 14-time major champion wrote as his manager lashed out at claims his star client’s recovery from back surgeries had stalled.
Agent Mark Steinberg insisted the long-time world No.1, now ranked 445th, was continuing along the road to a competitive golfing return.
“The tweets that appeared this weekend about Tiger's health are ridiculous and absolutely false,” Steinberg told USA Today.
“It's reprehensible that every few months someone makes something up and it's treated like a real story.
“Tiger continues to work on his rehabilitation and we will have an accurate update at the appropriate time.”
Woods last played at the Wyndham Championship in August last year and has since had two back operations. He also had a micro-discectomy in March 2014.
The video in Woods’ post was confirmed by Steinberg to have been shot in the past 24 hours – a nicely nipped 9-iron approach in a simulator with that trademark Tiger check on landing.
