Royal Adelaide&aposs Ben Stowe and Glenelg&aposs Jenny Lee have got their summer seasons off to winning starts, with victories at the Golf SA 72-Hole Junior Open held at Grange Golf Club. In the Girl&aposs division, the Korean born Lee (4 handicap) was a model of consistency over the two days, carding scores of 78, 86, 79 & 79 for a four-round total of 322. Coming a distant second in the Girl&aposs division was SA state representative Rachel Taylor who finished 22 shots adrift on 344, while last week&aposs Mary Cudmore Award recipient Acacia Curtis (Wirrabara) finished third on 358. The Boy&aposs division proved an altogether tighter affair with SA state representative Ben Stowe claiming the title on the final hole of the tournament from local Grange member Matthew Lisk. Leading by a single shot coming into the final round defending champion Stowe (3), who made a point of wearing his &aposlucky&apos pink shorts which had seen him to victory in last year&aposs event, carded rounds of 73, 75, 71 and 77 for a four-round total of 296. Lisk (2), who last month represented South Australia in the annual development match against Victoria, also played some solid golf in carding rounds of 70, 75, 74 and 78 to finish a shot back on 297. The scoreboard belied the drama that unfolded on the 18th however, as Lisk leading by a shot, took a double-bogey 6 on the par-4 18th to hand Stowe the victory. Next week the junior event calendar moves to Thaxted Park and Mt Lofty for the second 72-hole Open event. For all results, click here for the tournament event page.
