Brian Stuard has the lead at the rain-affected OHL Classic at Mayakoba, although only 15 players completed their opening round on Thursday. When play was suspended at 438pm local time in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, Stuard sat top of the leaderboard at five under through 15, one shot ahead of Erik Compton (through 17) and Alvaro Quiros (through 15). Australia&aposs Matt Jones and American pair Will MacKenzie and Len Mattiace were the highest-placed players to complete their first rounds at two under. Stuard opened with three straight pars, before producing a hat-trick of birdies to leap up the leaderboard. The 30-year-old American dropped a shot on the par-five seventh but birdies on the eighth, 11th and 13th saw Stuard edge ahead. Josh Teater and Harris English (both through 17), plus Jeff Maggert (through 15) and Jamie Lovemark (through 12) are tied for fourth at three under. Jones, MacKenzie and Mattiace are next on the leaderboard, tied for eighth at two under with Justin Leonard (through 17) and Kevin Stadler (through two). No less than 57 players did not even get out on the course at the El Cameleon, including defending champion John Huh.
