In a kick-start to Keysborough Golf Club’s big week of golf (which includes the Pro-Am on Thursday 31 January), 74 players gathered to the club today for the 2013 Keysborough Senior Amateur. This 18-Hole stroke competition is the third on the 2013 Senior Golf Program following the Kooringal Senior Amateur, and the Royal Melbourne Seniors Classic last week.
Light south-westerly winds and mid-20 degree temperature provided calm playing conditions ideal for low scores today. In a three-way tie for first place, Michael Jackson (Yarra Yarra) came out victorious with a score of 2-over par 73. Jackson’s 34 on the back nine won the count-back from Andrew Hansen (Eastern), who had 25 on the back six to beat Narooma’s Wayne Aigner by 2 shots.
In the nett section, Ian Henry from Brighton off a handicap of 16 had a stellar day, carding a nett 65 win by 3 shots from Metropolitan’s Paul Bray (Hcp 7, nett 68 on a count-back from Ernest Mensforth from Green Acres).
Big thanks to all that were involved in organizing the event, in particular to Dee Healy (General Manager), Lee Daffy (Membership & Business Development Executive), Darren Eckhardt (Director of Golf), and GV Representatives Chris Collingwood and John Scrivener.
The next event on the Senior Calendar will be the Yarra Courses Senior Amateur, an 18-Hole stroke competition held at Rosanna Golf Club on Monday 4 February 2013.
