Volvo drives 2011 Australian Open

With only months to go before the biggest ever season in Australian golf, Volvo Cars has been announced as the official vehicle of the Australian Open. The three year agreement will see Volvo Cars aligned with Australia s most prestigious golf championship, extending upon their involvement with Rugby Union, The Australian Ballet and the Cure For Life Foundation. Matt Braid, Managing Director, of Volvo Car Australia said the company was looking forward to again being associated with the Australian Open which will take place at The Lakes Golf Club in Sydney from November 10-13, 2011. As a luxury brand we viewed the opportunity to be the Official Vehicle for such a premium event as the perfect alignment for Volvo,&apos&apos said Mr Braid. “In total we&aposll supply 26 courtesy cars for the event from across our range with a focus on one of our newest models, the S60 sedan. The S60 sedan is a genuine competitor in the luxury market. We look forward to working with the PGA over the next three years to revitalise the Australian Open,&apos&apos Braid said. Volvo Car Australia joins a strong line up of sponsors eager to support the 2011 Australian Open that will feature global talent including the likes of Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Bubba Watson, Greg Norman, Dustin Johnson and Fred Couples. Brian Thorburn, Chief Executive Officer of the PGA Tour of Australasia said Volvo s increased association was testament to efforts invested in growing the Australian Open. Volvo Cars has supplied vehicles for the Australian Open for the last three years, however this new arrangement is a significant increase and investment on previous years, said Thorburn. As the Official Vehicle of the Australian Open, we look forward to working with Volvo Cars as we see the alignment as a great fit between our values and vision. The Australian Open is co-sanctioned by the PGA Tour of Australasia and OneAsia and will be broadcast to over 400 million homes in more than 40 countries.
