The first Victorian U16 Classic for 2017 was played this morning in damp conditions. Play was delayed thanks to the showers that plagued much of the state this morning before a suspension of play after only a few holes. Eventually the heavens cleared and play was uninterrupted with some fantastic scores recorded!
Young gun Harrison Gomez fired a stellar one under-par 53 to capture the overall boys title at just 8 years old. Not only did he walk home with top spot but he also broke his own U10 record by one shot to now hold the U10 and U8 course records. Siblings Ben and Clare Powell had successful days recording wins in the U12 boys and U8 girls sections.
Jazy Roberts hoisted the trophy in the overall girl section with her round of 56 today. This is now the fifth time Jazy has taken home the honours but still has some ground to make up if she is to catch the massive nine victories recorded by Nasya Sohail. Younger sister Esha is following in the footsteps of Nasya after claiming the U10 girls section today. After a stellar summer, Kay Bannan added another trophy to the cabinet with the U16 girls honours.
Congratulations to all of the age division and NTP winners! The next U16 Classic will be in the April school holidays on Friday 7th.
