Golf Queensland is pleased to announce the 2018 Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) High Performance Golf Squad for 2018, with three new faces joining seven existing squad members.
Chris Crabtree, Sarah Wilson and Dylan Perry will join Charlie Dann, Louis Dobbelaar, Jed Morgan, Shae Wools-Cobb, Lawry Flynn, Becky Kay and DeeDee Russell to make up this year’s squad.
Under the supervision of newly appointed Head Coach Grant Field, and the assistance of Richard Woodhouse, the squad members will meet regularly with access to world-class coaching and support services including sport science, strength and conditioning, medical, career and education, in addition to financial support.
Golf Queensland’s High Performance Program Manager Tony Meyer said the aim of the program is to identify and develop elite Queensland golfers and assist them to maximise their potential on and off the course.
“The selected players have demonstrated a strong commitment to developing their game and have shown an excellent ability to complete at a high level whether it be at state, national or international,” Meyer said.
“The QAS program gives athletes the best possible opportunities and world-class resources to fully develop their potential.”
“We are excited to welcome three new members to the squad. Dylan Perry recorded terrific results in 2017 and has fit in well with the squad after making the move to the Gold Coast from NSW last year. Chris Crabtree and Sarah Wilson demonstrated their commitment to taking their game to the next level and I’m sure they will utilise every opportunity the program provides.”
The squad began training in March with the scholarships lasting one year in length.
