Australian Men’s Senior – entries open

Entries are now open for the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur Championship to be played at Kooyonga Golf Club in Adelaide on 11-13 October 2016.

Defending champion and number one ranked player on the Australian Men’s Senior Amateur rankings, Greg Rhodes from Victoria, will be back to defend his title along with 2014 champion Gordon Claney from Victoria who recently took out the Australian Men’s Senior Match Play Championship at Coolangatta-Tweed Heads Golf Club.

Other top contenders include Ian Frost from Victoria who has had a number of wins in Australian Senior Amateur Ranking events this year including The National Senior Masters, Queensland Senior Amateur and SA Senior Amateur, and three time winner Stefan Albinski from NSW who won the championship in 2011, 2010 and 2009.

Kiwi Rodney Barltrop is also likely to join the field after recently finishing runner-up in the Australian Men’s Senior Match Play Championship, and with three Australian Men’s Senior Amateur titles already to his name in 2004, 2005 and 2009, he will determined to add a fourth.

The event once again sees players contest 54-holes stroke play over three days.

The GA handicap limit for 2016 is 9.4.

The event is in its 36th year, having been played since 1981, and with the winner claiming the Kerry Packer Trophy, it is Australia’s premier men’s senior event.
