Biddle and Day Lead at Kooringal

The first round of the Kooringal Senior Amateur got underway this afternoon in Altona, in lovely golfing weather. 87 players took to the beautiful fairways and pure greens in the third senior event for the year.

 

Stephen Day (Ballarat) lead’s the men’s gross field after shooting a three over 74. He leads both Geoffrey Charnley (Rossdale) and Ian McCleary (Kooringal) by one stroke after both players had rounds of 75.

 

Day also leads the men’s nett section at 3 under par, Two shots ahead of Peter Turner (Kooringal) 70. A further two strokes behind are Owen Spalding (Lara) and Kerry Bayly (Kooringal) who both stand at 72.

 

Kerrin Biddle (Queens Park) holds the overnight lead in the women’s scratch stableford field after scoring 29 points today. Sandra Collingwood (Keysborough) is two points behind on 27 and four points ahead of June Tickell (Trafalgar).

 

Four women share the lead in the women’s stableford on 34 points. Saowapa McDowall (Growling Frog), Sandra Collingwood (Keysborough), Cheryl Turner (Riverside) and Kerrin Biddle (Queens Park) will all be looking to take the overall lead tomorrow.

 

Round 2 begins at 9:00am tomorrow.
