Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath) and Sue Lush (Gardiners Run) have taken out their respective titles at the 2018 Moyne Senior Classic.
Under beautiful blue skies, players took to the stunning links course with a slight breeze making for ultimate golfing conditions.
Claney defended his title from last year with an even par 72, finishing on 145 for the two days.
Claney defeated Geoff Charnley (Rossdale) on a countback after Charnley fired a 73 in today’s round.
Guy Krall (The National) finished on 149 to take out third position.
The men’s nett was a closely fought battle with some hot scoring over both days. Alan Buckley (Commonwealth) was the most consistent with rounds of 69 and 70 giving him a one shot victory. The fast finishing Ignatius Duivenvoorden (Yarram) and Greg Welsh (Colac) fired 65 and 67 nett respectively in today’s round to both fall agonisingly short.
Sue Lush (Gardiners Run) has been crowned the women’s scratch stableford champion for 2018 after finishing on 47 points for the two days. Closely behind was Yarrawonga’s Sue Dawes on 46.
Similarly to the scratch stableford, the women’s stableford was a close battle throughout. Dorset’s Helen Drake has come out on top with a total of 67 points. One shot back on 66 was Riversdale’s Faye Plummeridge.
The men will head down to Sorrento in December for their final event of the year whilst the women will gather with the men at Keysborough to kick off the 2019 calendar.
