Local knowledge proves key for the boys and Lydia continues form for the girls….
On the 8th and 9th of this month the 2 Day Easter Classic was once again held at spectacular Pelican Waters Golf Club. In what can only be described as a couple of perfect days for golf (minus the mozzies) as the field of 84 players battled their way around the Greg Norman designed course. Proving quite a challenge, only 17 in the field were able to perform better than their handicaps over the two days.
Leading the charge for the girls and taking home her second junior event title in as many months was Lydia Shackell. Scoring gross rounds of 77 and 78 for a 36 hole total of 155, Lydia was able to take home the Girls Overall Championship over Girls Division 1 winner Rae Weiki (78-79-157) by two shots.
Home ground experience played its part for the boys with the top two spots going to local Pelican Waters Members. Shooting a personal best of 69 (3 under) in his first round and a respectable 74 in his second, Jarrod Goodwin was able to take out the Boys 36 Hole Championship with a total of 143. Edging out his co-member James Riseley who also had a personal best coming on the second day in the form of a 2 under 70.
