Elmassian makes solid start in Missouri

Elizabeth Elmassian has made a solid start in the Women’s TRANS National GA Amateur Championship at the Lake Forest Country Club in St. Louis, Missouri.

The Australian Golf Club Member and runner-up in the 2015 Australian Women's Amateur Championship made four birdies and five bogeys in an up and down round of 1-over par 73 to sit in a tie for 6th position after the first round.

Elmassian was unable to begin her second round overnight unfortunately as severe thunderstorms moved across the area forcing officials to abandon play for the day.

Sitting out the storms alongside Elmassian and unable to get their second round underway are Bonnie Doon Golf Club and fellow Golf NSW HP squad member Sophie Cusack and Gennai Goodwin of Queensland, both of whom carded first round scores of 83.

Of the 13 players who were able to complete their second round, Queenslander Becky Kay sits notionally at the top of the leaderboard after carding a 73 to go with her first round score of 77.

Play is expected to resume on Thursday (U.S Time).
