Golf NSW Team member Harrison Endycott has fired a sizzling 6-under par 64 to sit in second place at the Porter Cup, being contested at Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York.
His round featured only two bogies and eight birdies, including a run of five in the last eight holes.
“I really worked hard to get the ball in the right spots today,” Endycott said. ”It’s a very demanding course around the greens, you’ve just got to be in the right position.”
Endycott is in a great frame of mind and is feeling confident about the rest of the tournament. “My game is feeling good and I expect to make a lot more birdies, the key is to just be patient, which I intend to be tomorrow.”
The Avondale member who is in the middle of a run of events in North America, also credited his good mate Dave Donnaly who flew in from Sydney on Monday to caddy this week and in next week’s Western Amateur.
“I had Dave on the bag when I won both of my Avondale Medals. He only pulled the bag on a buggy today. He’s the best four marker I’ve ever seen,” Endycott grinned.
“Seriously though, we’ve played a lot of golf together and he knows my game well. We have a lot of laughs out there.
Of the other NSW and Australian representatives in the tournament, St. Michael’s Travis Smyth sits in a tie for 35th, and Bonnie Doon’s Austin Bautista is 48th.
The third round begins overnight.
