Golf Australia is pleased to announce that The Grange Golf Club in Adelaide will host the inaugural Women’s Senior Trans Tasman Cup in 2018.
The team event for women aged 55 years and over will see six players from Australia take on six players from New Zealand. The event will be played in Ryder Cup-style, with players contesting foursomes and fourball match play on day one, and singles match play on day two.
The biennial event will be played on the West Course on 29-30 October following the Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship at Sandy Creek Golf Club in the Barossa Valley. Hosting venues will rotate every two years between Australia and New Zealand.
Golf Australia’s Director of Championships, Trevor Herden, said, “the Women’s Senior Trans Tasman Cup will be the premier international opportunity for Australia’s women senior golfers. Australia will field a strong team with women’s senior elite golf having grown in statue over the last few years.”
“It will be a great reward for players’ based on their performances in various Golf Australia Order of Merit events,” Herden said.
The event will be conducted by Golf Australia and New Zealand Golf.
