ica; font-size: 12px;”>Ballina Golf Club's Jay Mackenzie has consolidated his lead in the Queensland Boys Amateur Championship after returning another solid sub par round at Bargara Golf Club.

ica;”>The Golf NSW Boys team member carded a tidy 3-under par round of 69 to go with his first round 68 and now sits at 7-under par after 36 holes.

He now holds a comfortable 5 shot lead over Royal Queensland's James Mee.

Mackenzie kept his card blemish-free today, recording three birdies and 15 pars and insisted his game felt no different today than it did to his seven birdie and three bogey round yesterday.

“It feels good to get out there and have two good rounds. I'm pretty happy, the course suits me. I didn’t really do anything differently. I just went out there, got some putts in and it worked out," Mackenzie said.

The leading 50 players and ties will contest the final 36 holes over tomorrow and Friday.
