Two of South Australia’s elite amateur golfers Lachlan Barker and Ben Layton recently appeared on Channel 44's SA Sports Show, to talk golf with legendary host KG Cunningham and Robbie Popplestone.
The SA Sports Show is a locally produced weekly one-hour desk-based TV program, dedicated to covering South Australian sports news and features. The SA Sports show airs each Friday night at 7pm and is replayed again at 7pm Sunday night.
Lachlan and Ben both 17-years-old are members of the both the Glenelg and Willunga Golf Clubs and have just finished year 12, so had to combine golf training and playing, with school and final exams this year.
Both are in the Golf SA Tier 1 High Performance Squad and were part of the SA Junior Boys State Team who won National Teams Championships in April.
Lachlan has had a stellar 12 months winning the 2015 SA Amateur Championships and earlier this year won the Malaysian Amateur, while Ben made it through to represent Australia at the Aaron Baddeley International in the US last year.
Lachy who is ranked sixth in the national junior rankings and Ben 50th were both in the SA Men’s State Team in 2016.
While Layton will stay local in 2017, Baker is off to Iowa State University in the US after accepting a college golf scholarship.
