Australia’s Minjee Lee is contending again on the LPGA Tour, tied-sixth and just two shots from the lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic in Michigan.
Lee, 20, who is No. 13 in the world, followed her opening 67 with another 67 today, and is at eight-under, two from the lead held by Lexi Thompson of the United States.
World No. 1 Lydia Ko of New Zealand is one shot farther back.
Lee, the Golf Australia rookie squad member, has already won on tour in America this year and is in hot form leading into the US Women’s Open.
Bad news for the Aussies was that Su Oh and Karrie Webb, who are jousting for the second spot on the Olympic Games team, both missed the cut.
Last week Oh, ranked 40th in the world, was 13 spots ahead of Queenslander Webb, who has had a long-cherished ambition to play in Rio.
