Tasmania Golf Club’s Zahara Lemon was the best performed Tasmanian at this year’s Australian Girls’ Amateur Championship.
Lemon finished in equal thirty second at the event conducted at the Devonport Golf Club last week.
The 16-year-old had consistent rounds of 77, 74, 78 and 74 to finish in a tie with four other interstate competitors on seven-over-par.
Of the girls who participated in the event Georgia Milbourne, also from Tasmania Golf Club, was the next best placed behind Lemon on 14-over-par.
Prospect Vale’s Lily Caelli (+27) and Royal Hobart’s Hallie Meaburn (+30) rounded out the remaining Tasmanians.
Event favourite and last year’s runner-up, Karis Davidson from Queensland, won the event after a five-under-par round of 67 left her at 22-under and a one shot victory over New Zealand’s Momoka Kobori.
Daniel Hillier had no idea he’d won a berth in this year’s Australian Open when he captured the Australian Boys’ Amateur Championship.
The 17-year-old from Wellington, also the reigning New Zealand Amateur champion, carded a five-under-par 67 to cruise home by six shots at 10-under at Ulverstone.
Prospect Vale Golf Club’s Ryan Thomas was the best Tasmanian at his first Australian Boys’ Amateur Championship.
The 14-year-old Development Squad member placed 59th on the final leader board with rounds of 76, 78, 81 and 84, a total of 329.
