Gavin Duncan (Heidelberg) has been crowned the Yarra Courses Senior Amateur champion after a round of 71 today at the Heidelberg Golf Club.
Duncan carded 3 consecutive birdies on holes 1-3, with only a couple hiccups on the scorecard. Duncan had a chance of making four birdies in a row but failed to make a short putt on the fourth.
“On the second, my ball pitched an inch short of the hole and finished an inch behind the hole. And on the fourth I missed a 4 foot putt.” Duncan mentioned post round.
While the course was set up generously, the strong winds made players second guess their shot selection. Eventual Runner Up was Kym Olsen (The National) who was edged out on a countback.
In the nett, it also local member Denzil Comerford who played some consistent golf to fire a nett round of 66 nett. Runner Up also on 66 was Malcolm Kendrick (The National).
The Yarra Courses Senior Amateur rotates between the Yarra clubs and offers a discounted entry fee for those who participate in the Yarra Courses Senior Pennant.
The Senior’s tour moves down the coast later in the week for the Surfcoast Senior Amateur to be played at Lonsdale & The Sands Torquay (Thursday 2- Friday 3 February).
